A Bad Internet Day

Thanks for dropping by this Tuesday. I am sorry that this is so late but I woke up today to no internet. And it’s not like I can call someone to complain...no can do...see, being in a country where you can’t speak the language fluently can be an issue. So for four solid hours, I without my window to the outside world. This is tough, really tough.

But there’s a flip side to this. I wrote a lot. First, I wrote this blog then I did some editing then I wrote another blog then some more editing. By this time, I’m about to tear my hair out as I hate editing. LOL! The point is that I got a lot done.

Didn’t have a lot of visitors today but I do appreciate those I had. Again, I’m very thankful that you had time to fit me into your busy schedule. I know that life can throw you curve balls that don’t have much give. Writing can be like that too sometimes. Today’s winner is the lovely Fedora. I’ll be contacting you with information within the next couple of days as I can’t promise with the internet issue. You’ll be getting a $10 gift certificate and a copy of my short, A Lover for Rachel. Congratulations!

Today is all about you, the reader. Writing is a lonely profession and many times writers only get to interface with those he or she is writing for is during conferences. Sure, some of us put ourselves out there doing things like this and sometimes more. I mean I tweet...a lot...a I yap, a lot. But there are a lot of times I don’t ask about you, the reader. I want to know about you. What you like, what you don’t like, what you’d see in my books. Then there’s family: do you have any kids? Just getting married or have been married a long time? Just anything you want to share.

Am I demanding this? No, I just want to share with you and hope you want to share with me. Most of you know I have a husband, two sons, two grandsons, one daughter-in-law, two dogs and three cats. Some of you might remember when I had three snakes. Well, I had to get rid of the snakes when we moved to Vienna as those aren’t allowed to travel internationally. LOL! But did you all know I was born in Ohio? Or that my grandmother traveled from Kentucky to her new home with her new husband in a covered wagon? Yeah, interesting stuff isn’t it.

I’d love you all to share with me what you can or will. The idea is to find some common ground so we can forge a reader/writer relationship. Those are the really things that count in life. I want to thank you for participating in the Naughty After Dark Blog hop. Tomorrow is the last day and I do hope you’ll stop by to see me one last time.

If you haven’t visited anyone else yet, you need to visit some of the other kick-ass blogs on the list of the Naughty After Dark Blog Hop. Like I said yesterday, I’ll tell you all my favorites in a special blog after the event is over. Prizes tomorrow are an ebook from my backlist as well as a $10 gift certificate to one commenter on today’s blog. Unless you’re a multiple winner or course...then I’ll be doing something totally different for you! At the end of the Blog Hop, I will be giving one lucky person a $25 gift certificate to Amazon or ARe.

Again, I’d also like to thank these two ladies for sponsoring another great blog hop! Please stop by and show them some love!

Thanks to the lovely Nikki http://closeencounterswiththenightkind.blogspot.com/ and

Natasha Blackthorne http://natashablackthorneblog.blogspot.com/ for putting this shindig together. It’s been a lot of fun!

And to all of you, thanks for stopping by! I am truly blessed to have such wonderful readers like you!

  1. Oy, hugs, Lynn--internet issues, like other technology issues, are just the pits! While technology is a wonderful thing, sometimes it's also the greatest frustration when it isn't working as it should!

As for me, I'm a long-time reader--been happily reading since I was a kid, and reading romance from the YA days ;) I've come a long way, baby ;p I'm blessed to have a very understanding husband, who comments not at all, even when the TBR threatens to tip over and crush us all :D We have three kids, who are happily turning into readers themselves--it's neat to witness!

Thank you for giving us the chance to hang out with you these past few days--it's always a treat!

  3. Oh Lynn,

So sorry about your internet woes. I know that I am guilty of spending too much time on the internet, though I never got in to twitter.

I am the proud mama of two boys, now all grown up and living on their own with two gorgeous women, that I would love to one day call daughters. No grandchildren yet, but I see forward progress, lol, so maybe in the next year or two.

Hope tomorrow is a better day.

  4. Well I'm sorry you had a bad internet day!! Lets see. I am a new mother ;) Kind of new anyway. I was a career girl and went to the doctors because I wasn't very energetic, and I was having trouble drinking anything with caffenine. LOL...So your thinking well those aren't reasons to go to the doc right? I usually worked between 10 and 13 hours a day, sometimes taking double shifts and surviving on a few hours of sleep. So to me :) it was tragic!!But that is how I found out I was pregnant! I was so happy, probably one of the happiest days of my life. I put my career on hold to stay home with her and plan on going back to work when shes in school!! Thanks so much for the giveaway!!

  5. Sorry for your net problems, but at least you managed to accomplish quite a few things. I'd probably just suffering with withdrawal symptoms :D

I have a fantastic boyfriend and two lazy dogs :)
O.M.G. You had snakes? Wow. I've always wanted a gecko....

What do I like reading about? Well,I sort of read everything.:) I like it when the story is well written and funny. And when I'm reading romance I like stories with HEA, or at least with a HFN. :) I've read quite a lot of sad, tragic stories in high school and university, because I had to...

Thanks for the great posts! Loved this hop! :)

  6. Fedora,

Isn't that the truth! I so hate being without internet and here in Vienna, that seems like a lot. It might have to do with the 150 yo building I live in too! LOL!

Another reader from birth...kinda...LOL! I know just how you feel. I love reading. And that's what I've been doing along with writing these past few days. And it's good that you're passing it on to your kids. That's fantastic!

I am so grateful for readers like you...you make my day...thanks!

  7. Hi Shelly,

    Thanks for stopping by!

You sound about my age. Hubby and I've been married 26 years, together 29. Have two sons, two grandsons and one great daughter-in-law.

You and me both on the reading!

  8. Cathy,

Another one with two sons! Me too!

And it ended up being almost three days without internet instead of just the two!

Glad you stopped by! I really do appreciate it!

  9. Nikki,

Sometimes surprises are best. Our youngest was a surprise!

Understand about the career thing. I know I was going that way until I had son #2 then I realized I should have stayed home. Enjoy your time, they grow up so quick!

    Thanks for stopping by...appreciate it!

  10. Cayce,

I have to agree, I did manage to get quite a bit done with limited connections, didn't I?

Yup, I had snakes. Had to give them away because of the international thing. Now have two dogs, one on each continent. It's amazing when the dogs are going on both ends. Our youngest is watching our mutt over there and the one here gets excite when we talk about him and to him.

I so know what you mean about reading all the sad stories in high school. I hated that portion even though I understood it. I love reading for the HEA or HFN and am always interested in knowing just what happens after the story is over.

    Thanks for stopping by...appreciate it!

    Lynn
