WeWriWa ~ The Voyage of the Inara Marue ~ #8Sunday #LynnCrain

Hi everyone!

This week is my eighth time with the Weekend Writing Warriors. Here’s 8 sentences from one of my current WIPs, The Voyage of the Inara Marue.

Glancing at him, she totally stopped all movement and went into an almost trance-like state. “Accessing all internal memory and data storage units regarding nanite invasion.” Xander watched her as she ran through all her checks regarding her internal systems. “Internal grid number 1 is holding its own and injecting counter measures. Internal grid number 2 is holding its own and injecting counter measures with a class 2 configuration. Internal grid number 3 is in a major conflict situation. They are trying to get control over my central neural net. I am being flooded with class 4 nanites. Shutdown is imminent.”

There’s some romance in this science fiction novel but the story is more about the action. The heroine, Camden Jayde, was a soldier who met with an IED. She was then modified without her permission. The modifications are both physical and genetic. And now she has nanotechnology flowing in her veins along with her blood. The faction paying the bill modified her for the good of mankind but the military has other ideas. Those ideas serve no one but their own war mongering purpose. Her mission: save mankind, save the species. All she has to do is to accept.

WeWriWa ~ My Unpublished 8 ~ #8Sunday #LynnCrain

Hi everyone!

This week is my eighth time with the Weekend Writing Warriors. Here’s 8 sentences from one of my current WIPs, The Voyage of the Inara Marue.

Sighing deeply, she slowly turned to look at him more fully. "The nanites they gave me are different from anything I've had before. I can't really explain it. It's like I'm looking at my body and its function down a long tunnel. It's as if I'm an observer…like a war is happening in my body…and I have no control over anything."
Startled, he didn't like what he was hearing. "Do you know who's winning?"
"I am,” she answered with another lopsided grin.

This is a sci-fi novel with some romance, not a lot. It’s more about the story. The heroine, Camden Jayde is a soldier who was modified without her permission. The faction paying the bill modified her for the good of mankind but the military has other ideas. Those ideas serve no one but their own purposed.

Xander came and sat next to her on the bed. He wished circumstances were different because every time he sat next to her he hoped she couldn't hear the rapid thumping of his heart. He wasn't the first doctor to be enamored with a patient and he wouldn't be the last. He knew if he could bide his time things might be different. "May I touch you?"
She threw him a lopsided grin. "That depends on what you had in mind, doc."
It took everything in him not to react.

This is a science fiction novel with romantic elements. The story is about a woman who was modified without her permission, both physically and genetically. The modifications are extensive and include eyes, limbs and nanotechnology in the form of nanites flowing through her. She has a special mission but those in power at the military want her for something very different and it’s not for the good of mankind. She has to fight not only for herself but the whole of humanity and to save the species.

WeWriWa ~ My Unpublished 8 ~ #8Sunday #LynnCrain

Hi everyone!

This week is my seventh time with the Weekend Writing Warriors. Here’s 8 sentences from one of my current WIPs, The Voyage of the Inara Marue.

"Without a doubt. He was actually in our unit in the war." She leveled her gaze on him. "If truth be told, he was the one who sacrificed me to the IED god. He wasn't one of your nicer soldiers. He should have been a defendant in some of the abuse trials that took place after the first wave. I actually thought he was dead and that was why he wasn't listed on any roster when I finally got around to reading the court transcripts."
He knew his shock registered on his face when he heard her chuckle.

This is a sci-fi novel with romantic elements. The story is about a woman who was physically and genetically modified without her permission. The modifications are extensive and include eyes, limbs and nanotechnology in the form of nanites flowing through her. She was built for a special mission but those in power at the military want her for something very different and it’s not for the good of mankind. She has to fight not only for herself but the whole of mankind.

WeWriWa ~ My Unpublished 8 ~ #8Sunday #LynnCrain

Hi everyone!

This week is my sixth time with the Weekend Writing Warriors. Here’s 8 sentences from one of my current WIPs, The Voyage of the Inara Marue.

Xander sighed in exasperation. "How, Cam, just describe to me exactly how this was different?"
"Well…the first thing he did was chain my foot to the bed." She watched him momentarily before continuing. "That's when he touched me. I felt a sting when he touched me and I reacted." She swallowed hard and pulled her gown down to reveal the ugly red welt which had formed.
He immediately was next to her.

This is a sci-fi novel with romantic elements. It’s about a woman who was physically and genetically modified without her permission. The modifications are extensive and include eyes, limbs and nanotechnology in the form of nanites flowing through her. She was built for a special mission but those in power at the military want her for something very different and it’s not for the good of mankind. WeWriWa ~ My Unpublished 8 ~ #8Sunday #LynnCrain

Hi everyone!

This week is my fifth time with the Weekend Writing Warriors. Here’s 8 sentences from one of my current WIPs, The Voyage of the Inara Marue.

Xander looked at the creature he’d helped create. Creature was the wrong word because if one looked at her all they would see was a woman on the pretty side of ugly. Most of her scars were hidden as they’d managed to close skin thus avoiding all the normal pitfalls of skin grafts. Still most of those were on her back and as long as she wore clothes, they would remain hidden from view.
It was the internal scars he worried about. This whole business had left her less than reasonable at times, making her more than moody, irresponsible and a risk most people didn't want to deal with at all. She reminded him of a self-centered teenager who needed to grow up.

But they were running out of time and Camden Jayde was their only hope.

The novel is a sci-fi with romantic elements, It’s about a woman who was physically and genetically modified without her permission. Those modifications are extensive and include eyes, limbs and nanotechnology in the form of nanites flowing through her. She was built for a special mission but those in power at the military want her for something very different and it’s not for the good of mankind.

WeWriWa ~ My Unpublished 8 Week 2 ~ #8Sunday #LynnCrain

Hi Everyone!

This is my second time with the Weekend Writing Warriors. I'm sharing my 8 sentences from one of my current WIPs, The Voyage of the Inara Marue.

A voice I hadn't heard before entered my field of hearing. I tried to lick my lips and found that I couldn't because there was no moisture available. The crowd parted and sitting where Alvarez normally sat was the prettiest man I had even seen in my life. I shook my head, pretty was the wrong word, handsome was the word for a man. "What -- it's -- it's like I'm becoming scrambled. The words -- the words -- the words don't match any more." I realized just how little control I had over this new technology. If I had been given full control I might be able to understand what was going on better.

This novel is a sci-fi with romantic elements and is about a woman who was modified without her permission. Her modifications are many, like limbs, eyes and nanites flowing through her body. She was built for a special mission but those in power at the military want her for something very different.

WeWriWa ~ My Unpublished 8 ~ #8Sunday #LynnCrain

Hi everyone!

This is my first time ever with the Weekend Writing Warriors. I’m sharing my  8 sentences from one of my current WIPs, The Voyage of the Inara Marue.

I can't remember the last time I cried. Maybe it was the day they told me I would die. Maybe it was the day they told me I would become something no person had ever been before. Maybe…maybe…I should just forget about the when and worry about the why. Or maybe I shouldn't as I'm sure they would analyze the whole notion of me crying until there was nothing left to analyze.
But right now, I look at them through pried open eyes while my chin is in my chest, watching their every move with my enhanced eyesight and wonder if they even know or understand just what they have created. I don't even think they know I'm watching them. I know they are nervous…maybe that's not quite the right word…paranoid would be a better word choice.

This novel is a sci-fi with romantic elements and is about a woman who was modified without her permission. Her modifications are many, like limbs, eyes and nanites flowing through her body. She was built for a special mission but those in power at the military want her for something very different.
Hope you enjoyed my Sunday 8.
Thanks and see you next time!
