A Sexy Halloween ~ @oddlynn3 #MySexySaturday #MSSAuthors #LynnCrain

Welcome to week 65th week of My Sexy Saturday. This week’s theme is all about a sexy Halloween. Have you all known any sexy Halloween’s? Most of what I know about Halloween came from my own study and those wonderful horror flicks from my youth. Who can forget the original Halloween? Or any of the other crazy thriller movies from our younger years? Not me, that’s for sure. I thrive on those kinds of stories, so I guess I’m an adrenaline junky. LOL! You and I both know that there was always some kind of romance going in those stories. Be it between at least two of the characters. Still, it’s always about the relationship for me.

This week in Austria was on the brrrr side in my opinion though the DH doesn’t think so. Then again, he’s not the one with teeth rattling when it’s cold. So, the heat in the flat went on and I’ll be getting out the sweaters and long sleeve shirts then putting away the summer gear. It’s gone directly to winter and we again are having more grey days than sun. Sometimes it rains, sometimes it doesn’t. I’m still writing and researching and soon I’ll be able to reveal just what’s going on with my stories. Hope you all have had a great week wherever you’re at in the world.

Longmire is still trying to find a home and is going strong with the posse. They’ve had few  stampedes recently and they’ve all looked like fun. One of the things that the author, Craig Johnson, said recently really rang true. He said his stories were all about the characters and for me that’s what they are all about as well. A&E is still hoping it will all blow over that they said those of us over 40 don’t count for much. I say they are wrong…how about you? The hashtag is #LongLiveLongmire and if you just check it out, on both Facebook and Twitter, you’ll see what the posse has been up to since the last time.

Now onto a sexy Halloween. For those of you not versed in what Halloween is, let me tell you I was totally surprised when I did some research on it recently. The word itself means ‘holy evening’ and is of totally Catholic or Christian origin. It is the night before All Saints Day and All Souls Day, which was celebrate for many years starting in the 8th century. In order to make it something with a religious connotation, it was aligned with the Celtic or Pagan Samhain. Candles would be lit, prayers said for the souls of the dead then eating, drinking and celebrating, sometimes in masks, sometimes not all dot the fantastic history of this very interesting holiday.

I don’t have a Halloween story in the general sense of the word. But I do have a vampire story and as the years have evolved the holiday, that is now one of the many paranormal entities seen on Halloween. And to think it all started with the idea of guising in 16th century Scotland. Vampire’s are always in disguise as they try to function in the world of the living. This particular story will soon be re-released at eXtasy Books. There are a lot of great books in the Sanguinary Seduction series already and you should check my publisher out when you can. Please excuse the original cover but it was all I had; mine should be coming soon. It’s called A Tale of Opposites and I hope you enjoy this sexy seven paragraphs…happy reading!

I nodded, knowing what he had said was true. My sister and I had been part of many conversations where the women talked about their first time. Very few of them enjoyed it yet I had a feeling I would. “It will be all right. I know what I want,” I said again, making sure he was very clear about my desire.
Stroking up my slit one more time with the tip of his cock, he pushed all the way inside me and waited. Gasping, I tried to move myself away.
“Be still…it is almost over…”
Stopping my movements, it did not take me long to realize the truth of what he said. Soon my body was a quivering mass of feeling and something more. Pulling out ever so gently, he pushed back in again this time fully. I gasped at the sheer size of his cock as I tightened around him. Soon I was bucking against him as I was searching for something I had never felt before. Each stroke reached deeper until everyone was a torture as it rubbed against some inner spot that push me toward fulfillment.
“Duncan…please…please…” I gasped, nearly breathless.
“Just a moment more…just a moment…” he answered.
Going in and out of me, he reached down and pinched my hard nub. Crying out, I bucked into him fiercely, tumbling headlong in to an abyss of desire and emotion. Lifting my legs to his shoulders, he pushed into me even deeper, taking my fluids and rubbing them around the tight rosette of my ass. My body jerked again when his thumb invaded me there, but again the wicked feelings rose and I was pounding him back as the molten fire tumbled around me, leaving me in its glow.

Planning The Best Seller

I don’t think any writer sits down and says I’m going to write a best seller. I know that they all hope their book is well received and they plan what they might do should it make any money. But planning a best seller is out of the question.

What every writer does do is plan on writing the book. Everyone’s plan is different and believe me when I say I’ve probably tried them all. LOL!

Right now I must say it depend upon the book just how I plan for it. A lot of my bigger books, I do character charts and then think about what I would like to happen in each chapter for the number of chapters planned. I also think about the word count for each of those chapters. Long books, I tend to have longer chapters, short books shorter chapters.

For me a long chapter is about five thousand words and a short chapter is about half that amount. No matter long or short, I plan to do one chapter a day regardless of length. The reason I can do this is that all I do is write. I am lucky in this aspect of my life as a few years ago, my loving husband gave me the option of staying home and writing or continuing to work.

Since I was working at the time, I continued until they laid me off and I can honestly say, it has been one of the best decisions of my life. I love writing and love how happy I am when writing. What I don’t love is the constant interruptions from my family who swears I’m neglecting them. LOL! Well, their perception is wrong since I treat writing as a business. There are hours I must be in my office and hours I don’t have to be but frequently am.

If their request comes during a time I’m not required to be in my office, I will go do whatever it is they want me to do. Most of the time, they don’t see it that way at all. But with the youngest finally heading toward college, I know more and more of my time will be my own.

Now back to planning that book. Again, there are many ways to plan as well as the classes online to help you do so. When I first started, I was meticulous in planning every detail. But I am what is known as a pantser meaning I write by the seat of my pants. I just sit down and I write. However, if the book is over fifty thousand words, I will do the character charts and the plotting outline. If my book is a fantasy or sci-fi, I will definitely plan as I don’t want to get lost in the maze of what I’ve made up for that world.

If any of you have specific questions about planning, comment here and I will answer them in a later blog.

I have a quote today which is exactly how I see the planning thing. You do it when you’re doing something you don’t like so well. Here’s today’s quote:

The best time for planning a book is while you're doing the dishes. ~Agatha Christie

Have a great reading and writing day! See ya tomorrow!

An Interview with Viola Grace

Please help me welcome Viola Grace to XtraOrdinary Romance. She is a multi-published author and very talented who has a lot of interesting information to share.

At what age did you realize you wanted to be a writer?

9 or so. I wrote a short story for Christmas and got to read it on CBC radio.

What has been your biggest influence on becoming a writer?

The works of Anne McCaffery, Jayne Krentz (in all her incarnations), and David Eddings.

How did you feel when you got your first publishing contract?

Confused. I wasn’t sure that I was accepted for a while and had to send an email back to the EIC at the time. Then I squealed and flapped my hands in the air.

How many novellas/novels have you published to date? When did you have your first sale?

As of today, it is 43 novellas and 2 novels.

Tell me about your latest release. Please include if it is part of a series or a stand alone book.

Today is the release date of Hotel Spectre. The first Novella in the Nexus universe started in Gnomes of Suburbia. Sophie is a half-elf and she has been invited to the Half-Blood Ball at the Hotel Spectre and also invited to stay until she can get a handle on her magical talent. Raffin is her mentor and when he finds out the depths of her talent he is a little shocked. They play games of control to find out who is the stronger, and on the way they foil an attempt to stamp out the half-bloods that are all under the same roof.

What was your inspiration for this book?

The cover art was created by Martine Jardin and I based the story around the picture.

How do you categorize yourself: pantser or plotter?

Pantser. Definitely. But, I can weave bullshit into fine cotton, so no problems there.

How do you handle the editing/revision process?

I curl into a tight ball and open the file. Then I bite my lip and run through the entire manuscript in one sweep. Most of my issues are punctuation and tenses, so they are relatively easy fixes.

You’re received some fantastic reviews...how do you feel about them and why?

I love a good review, but it is the mediocre ones that hold my attention. Sometimes I get a reviewer who can see what I was thinking when I was writing…it’s kinda cool. And my favourites are the ones who give me a middle of the road review, but then state that they have to keep reading my work. I just howl at those.

Did anything odd happen while you were researching this story?

With all the talk of Halloween, I got a craving for pumpkin pie. Or cake, or whatever. I also learned that there is an elf for every occasion. …hey, there’s a title “An Elf for Every Occasion”. See how my brain works. :-)

What is the biggest piece of your advice you can give a beginning writer?

Park your ego at the door and take what advice is offered. Starting out is when you are most insecure, so just keep writing until you have a body of work that tells you if you are meant for the genre you have chosen. I wanted to be serious, and yet here I am writing romantic and erotic comedy. Go figure.

Is humor important in today’s women’s fiction?

I certainly think so, but then that is my primary means of expression. Life nowadays is a little too serious, I like to shake that up and make the reader crack a smile or laugh out loud.

What’s the easiest book you’ve ever written? The hardest? The most fun?

The easiest was Haldis Imperium, it was the story that I had in mind when I started the Champions of Terra. The hardest book was Wardstone, the madness depicted was drawn from real life which was a little disturbing at the time. The most fun would have to be Hael’s Fury. Dragons in space, how cool is that?

What do you consider the elements of a great romance?

A love that takes on all the senses, smell, touch, taste, sight, sound and emotion. If you can combine all of these, you have something fantastic, whatever the genre.

What’s your biggest reward in being a writer?

Fan mail. I love hearing about people who enjoy my work. It makes going through tough storylines and harsh reviews sting a little less. It also keeps me going. I keep all fan emails for those days I just can’t figure out why I am sitting at a computer and they get me through it.

Where can readers find out more about you and your work?

Viola’s Bio: Viola Grace was born in Manitoba, Canada where she still resides today. She really likes it there. She has no pets and can barely keep sea monkeys alive for a reasonable amount of time. Her line of day job tends to be analytical which leaves her mind hopping to weave stories. No co-worker is safe from her character analysis.

In keeping with busy hands are happy hands, her hobbies have included cross-stitch, needlepoint, quilting, costuming, cake decorating, baking, cooking, metal work, beading, sculpting, painting, doll making, henna tattoos, chain mail, and a few others that have been forgotten. It is quite often that these hobbies make their way into her tales.

Viola’s fetishes include boots and corsetry, and her greatest weakness is her uncontrollable blush.

Her writing actively pursues the Happily Ever After that so rarely occurs in nature. It is an admirable thing and something that we should all strive for. To find one that we truly like, as well as love.

She is quite happy with her genetic heritage, a brilliant mind, with a twisted sense of humor.

Thanks for taking part in my 2 for Thursday promotion, Viola. I hope everyone enjoyed her words as much as I do!

An Interview with Erin Sinclair

Help me in welcoming our second interview of the day, Erin Sinclair. I met Erin through a mutual friend and we started emailing in regards to her writing. I enticed her to come to a writing group and we’ve been friends ever since. Here’s her answers to some very interesting questions.

At what age did you realize you wanted to be a writer? I was very young, eight years old to be exact.

What has been your biggest influence on becoming a writer? Storytellers in general. Those incredibly entertaining, imaginative souls that transport us from the reality we live, to adventures we can scarce imagine.

How did you feel when you got your first publishing contract? My brain went into overload, excitement doesn’t begin to describe what I felt. There was a rush of sensation so energizing, so powerful I was in high revolution for weeks afterward.

Is writing a lonely career for you? Not at all. I lose myself in writing and enjoy every moment of it. It gives me a peace that sometimes is hard to find elsewhere.

How many novellas/novels have you published to date? When did you have your first sale? I have published one novel and two novellas to date, with a third novella coming out on Halloween via Devine Destinies Publishing, a division of eXtasy Books. My first sale occurred with my first batch of printed novels of Twilight’s Son, Book 1 of the Fallen Angel trilogy. When I received my first order of printed novels and my friend Dani bought the first one, I thought “Good Lord, this has been thirty-seven years in the making.” I couldn’t take the smile from my face for weeks.

How do you get your ideas for your stories? Do they come all at one or in bits and pieces over a period of time? My ideas are a total inspired moment. They hit me fast and hard. I have to write them down or I will forget them. I have a ton of stories in their first stages, now to write them.

If you could take the place with one character in your books, who would it be and why? I would take the place of Lt. Detective Brianna Carter in Twilight’s Son. She’s brilliant, beautiful, strong, independent and has the eternal love of an angel who has given up his angelic existence because he can’t be without her. It doesn’t hurt that he’s all man, all hers and gorgeous inside and out.

Tell me about your upcoming release. Please include if it is part of a series or a stand alone book. My next release is a novella entitled Witch One? scheduled for sale on October 31, 2009. It is about a beautiful witch living a perfect life in New England whose fiancé has just proposed. She joyfully accepts but she’s forgotten one small item, her first fiancé, a man to whom she’s been engaged since a child and, inconveniently, still is betrothed. It is a stand-alone novella.

What was your inspiration for this book? Several sources actually not the least of which Bewitched, Fantasy Island, my spiritual belief system and my passion for romantic comedy.

How do you categorize yourself: pantser or plotter? Basic plotter, but allow my characters to tell me their story. When that happens, pantser all the way.

How do you handle the editing/revision process? Methodical and one sentence at a time. I tend toward perfectionism, but fall short more often than not. A wise woman I know who is also a writer has subsequently advised me to devote more time to writing than to obsessing over every paragraph. I’ve taken her advice and have attempted to become less paranoid.

You’ve received some fantastic reviews...how do you feel about them and why? I’m flattered to say the least. My goal is to entertain, transport, maybe even teach my reader something along the way. When I receive a good review, I appreciate that reviewer’s opinion because knowing what they liked about the story means I’ve reached them in the way I wanted to, what they may have had issue with, I utilize to improve my style. What I truly enjoy is when several reviewers have the same positive reaction to something I’ve written because that means they understood what I was trying to convey in my story.

Did anything odd happen while you were researching this story? Not odd, more like intriguing. Witch One flowed so smoothly from my imagination to computer, I wrote it in a minimal amount of time. I felt like I was literally watching a Hallmark movie in my head. That’s my hope one day, that Witch One is translated to a film as a charming romantic comedy. Well, a girl can dream can’t she?

What is your favorite literary quote of all time? This is the last stanza of Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost, one of my favorite poets and definitely in my top five favorite literary quotes of all time. “The woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep.” It has told me life is choice and your will is free. Life is done when you are and not before.

Where do you see your career in five years? Ten years? I see my writing career expanded and unlimited. I see myself exploring every artistic bone in my body. I see myself pursuing my first love writing via several different aspects of fiction and even a non-fiction book or two. I see myself illustrating young adult/children’s books. I see myself pursuing photography, finishing my Master’s Degree in Creative Fiction and in Art. Quite frankly I see myself pursuing whatever sings to me and calls me to explore its possibilities.

Erin Sinclair can be found all around the web and is looking forward to hearing from readers at:

Erin is also on Facebook, Twitter (ESinclairWriter), Writers and Readers of Distinctive Fiction, Romance Book Junction and many more!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to chat with you today Lynn, this has been so enjoyable!

Erin's Bio:

I have been writing since I was eight years old. Writing is everything to me. It is my dream, my hope and now my reality. I am a daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. As each role ebbs and flows in my life, the one that is constant is that of a writer. To me, storytelling is the original art form. I am thrilled and honored to be a part of such an ancient, noble tradition. My goal is to transport the reader to the worlds of my imagination. The greatest compliment I receive as an author is when a reader tells me I’ve “taken them there”. When I hear that, I know I’ve done what I am supposed to do with my career.

Thanks for taking part in my 2 for Thursday promotion, Erin.

Oh, Happy Day!

Wow! My twentieth book has just been released! Yeah, 20, and I couldn't believe it myself! I hope you enjoy this little peak into my science-fiction erotic romance, More Than Robotics, part of the ongoing Orchid series. Enjoy!!
More Than Robotics (Book 2 in the Orchid Series) By Lynn Crain Available NOW!!! eXtasy Books http://tinyurl.com/MoreThanRobotics-ebook BLURB: There were only three things in life that Captain Bekka Taylor wanted in life: 1) Command of a Warrior Class Star Marauder, 2) To grow old gracefully and 3) A lover who understood her fiery nature. She was accomplishing two out of her three objectives very nicely when an internal IUA conflict begins to encompasses the whole world as she knows it. Then Lieutenant Javed Malik comes aboard, clearly younger than she, with dreamy eyes and a secret meant only for her. But letting him in means getting rid of years of frustration and anguish and maybe her career. Can she survive another war or the smoldering looks from her junior officer sent to protect her 24/7? LOG LINE: Captain Bekka Taylor must learn to trust Lieutenant Javed Malik but in a world where mistrust is rampant, can she trust her feelings enough to love him? TEASER EXCERPT: I grabbed his hair and pulled him back to look at me. “Have you ever made love to someone while you’ve had this technology?” “Never. You’re my first.” He kissed me again and I knew the time for talking was long over. Moving once again to my breast, he sucked on one until the nipple popped into his hot mouth, lolling his tongue around the tight aureole before his gentle bite sent a shockwave of desire through me. All I could do was gasp as wave after wave of sensation surged over me making every nerve in my body tingle with pleasure. A fire was building in my crotch and I sensed I would die if Javed didn’t get there soon. Down, please, go down further, I thought, forgetting he heard me, as my breaths came in short gasps filled with pleasure. Patience. Good things… Screw the good things…it’s been way too long…I want the bad things. And I want them now. My hands grabbed his head and tried to push him down to my crotch. His hand moved further down my body reaching into my underwear, but he kept his eyes focused on mine for a moment longer. We don’t need these clothes any more, do we? As long as you take yours off as well. Deal. He was up in a flash, peeling his clothes off his cinnamon colored flesh, his cock jutted rock hard from his firm body. I reached up and stroked him, moving my mouth to caress the soft head of his penis, reveling in the groan he elicited as my tongue moved on the tender piece of flesh. You still have your clothes on. His thought conveyed a hint of heat as it singed my mind with its heat. I know. I continued to lick his cock, running my tongue along the rim before plopping the head into my mouth for a second time. I used my tongue as a weapon for sexual torture and if the movements of his body were any indication, I did quite well. No fair. I wanted to do you first. You’ll have your turn. That’s what you get for still being the one standing. I nipped and stroked his cock with a firm hand, continuing to rub him with my mouth, feeling him grow stronger and bigger with each lick and nip. I reached down between us and squeezed his balls and he groaned in pleasure. He placed his hands on the wall behind me and leaned even more into me, his cock sliding deeper down my throat. Your mouth feels so good…so right…lick the head some more. I perceived the want and need in his thoughts as I complied with his wishes as his body arched into me. I continued to nip and stroke his hard shaft with my hands and mouth, bringing even more moans. I returned to the purple mushroom head and rimmed him with my tongue yet again and again. I couldn’t wait to feel his tongue on my body, to feel him inside me as he turned me on like no other had ever done. Heck, I got a thrill sucking his cock, which had never been high on my list of priorities before. He was right, I had always been the one in control. I can hear you. His heavy breathing hot on the top of my head. This is the one time where it’s hard to shield another from our thoughts. Remember you said so yourself. Thoughts…feelings get so intertwined. I understand. I continued to lave him with my mouth wanting even more. I can’t wait any more. I need to be inside you now.

Starting Over

Wow...it's been forever since I've written in this blog...and I realize the error of my ways! Blogs are important because it is one of the ways that we authors interface with our readers. I have some exciting things going on. Notice the redesign of this blog. It took me some time but I think I finally have it licked! I have great colors and a sexy picture. The picture will change with my mood but the overall scheme is really nice. I've also been submitting to NYC and am hopeful something will pop there soon. Only time will tell and until then, I'll keep on writing! On the right sidebar are my two newest books. They are part of my Santa's Elves series. A Love for Eggther came out in August and An Elf's Magic is due to come out in December. I love both of these covers and want everyone to see them. I will try to keep these blogs as up to date as possible. At a minimum I will be posting to it once a week as I now belong to a total of four other blogs. I've listed them in the link area. Talk to you all soon! Lynn
