This
week is my eighth time with the Weekend Writing Warriors. Here’s 8 sentences
from one of my current WIPs, The Voyage of the Inara Marue.
Xander came and sat next to her on
the bed. He wished circumstances were different because every time he sat next
to her he hoped she couldn't hear the rapid thumping of his heart. He wasn't
the first doctor to be enamored with a patient and he wouldn't be the last. He
knew if he could bide his time things might be different. "May I touch
you?"
She threw him a lopsided grin.
"That depends on what you had in mind, doc."
It took everything in him not to
react.
This is a science fiction novel with romantic
elements. The story is about a woman who was modified without her permission,
both physically and genetically. The modifications are extensive and include
eyes, limbs and nanotechnology in the form of nanites flowing through her. She has
a special mission but those in power at the military want her for something
very different and it’s not for the good of mankind. She has to fight not only
for herself but the whole of humanity and to save the species.
