Creative Writer Award

My wonder friend, Dawn Roberto, decided to give this blog, the Creative Writer Blogger Award for this blog. I’m always flattered and humbled by any award, this one is gonna make me do some work here. LOL! I even get to put this cool little graphic on my blog, so all is good.

The instructions which came with this award are quite simple. I either give you 5 truths and one 1 lie about myself, or I give 5 lies and 1 truth. Which will it be, which will it be? I’ll do the 5 truths and one lie. Your job will be to figure out the lie in the six statements. I’ll even give the winner a $10 gift certificate to ARe so you can choose the books of your choice and I’ll throw in one of my own on top of that!

Entering is simple, you must become a follower of my blog and leave a comment to tell me which one statement is a lie about myself. This contest ends one week from today, June 4, at midnight and I will announce the winner the morning of June 5. This is open to all readers.

Here are my truths and a lie. Good luck in figuring it out.

1) I live with a wonderful Scotsman who is the inspiration for many of my heroes.

2) I have over five thousand, that’s right 5000, books, hardcover to paper to school volumes, in my house in two rooms and nine books cases.

3) My all time favorite movie is Alien.

4) I just became a grandmother to twin boys.

5) I love chocolate.

6) I have an elf series which will conclude with this year’s Christmas book.

Now I get to bestow this great honor on some other well deserving bloggers. They are:

1) http://courtneybreazile.com/blog/

2) http://www.cynicalwoman.com/

3) http://sandysullivanauthor.blogspot.com/

4) http://www.sunlightsucks.com/

5) http://kate-hill.com/blog/

6) http://www.dawnmontgomery.com/blog/

7) http://www.lucyndastorey.com/blog/

Now I look forward to hearing your guesses into my truths and lie. Thanks, Dawn, for this wonderful award. :)

  3. My first thought was that the lie was 5) I love chocolate. I don't love chocolate, so I figure not everyone does. Conventional wisdom says go with your first choice, so I will.

My second choice would have been 2) I have over five thousand, that’s right 5000, books, hardcover to paper to school volumes, in my house in two rooms and nine books cases. I have 17 bookcases crammed full of books and I don't think I have 5,000, but I've never counted and I'm no good at math. Could be they're floor to ceiling shelves, too, which would hold more. I'm overthinking this, aren't I? :)

  5. Cynthya,

I so understand going with one's first answer...LOL!

And 5000 books does sound like a intimidating...but thing about the Harlequin romance types...and you'll notice that they are really little books. My DH and I once tried to see how many we could stuff in one shelf. You know like a phone booth or a VW?

It was a lot of fun and very eye opening. We had something like 279 books in that one shelf. Of course, they were stacked on top of each other and there wasn't an empty spot on that shelf.

  6. SiNn,

You do my heart good. I'll be having another one out in August then the final book at Christmas.

There would be only one book left I could write. We'll see if people want me to write it. LOL!

  7. I have to go with number 2 is the lie and the rest are truths.

It's the 5000 books in only 9 bookcases that has me. 5000 books I can easily see as I have at least that many print books and more than that in e format on my computer and Kindle. But I have my print books in at more than a dozen bookcases along with many being boxed away by author and the cases are scattered throughout my home along with two dedicated book rooms and a basement.

I would love to see what your bookcases look like and learn your trick of organization if it is true:)

  8. Lynn, I don't really know you, so I'm going with the grandmother bit as the lie. You don't look old enough to be a grandmother.

  9. orelukjp0,

You would be surprised what I can do with a bookcase. Now, I'm not saying this is the truth or the lie but I will tell you something about my office.

I have two bookshelves in here which are floor to ceiling. Two per bookshelf are what I would call triple shelves because they were meant for notebooks and the like. Now considering a large number of these books are the size of a Harlequin, I can stuff a lot of books in them. An absolute ton.

MOF, I am going to unload one of them so I can figure out just how many I stuffed in this particular one. Basically, I need to rearrange it as it looks like some thing will fall out any moment. LOL!

    Thanks for stopping by!

  10. Caroline,

Thank you very much but I am truly older than I look. I'll reveal just how old when I tell you the truths and the lie.

  12. This one is tough.

    I'm going with the chocolate.

I KNOW how many books fit in a video bookshelf - I have 3 of them 8' tall so that one is plausible for a standard bookcase.

  13. I know #2 is probably true. It is true for me and probably just about any avid reader who hasn't gone to all ebooks.
My gut is telling me to go with #3 as the lie, but that just may be because that is my least fave movie of that franchise.

  14. I'm going to go with #1. My guess is he's your hero but not Scotts.:)
My first guess was # 2. But, we'll see. :)

  16. Kelly,

Another one with huge bookshelves. I think it used to be a contest between the DH and I who could fit the most books in a certain size shelf.

All I can say is that I won every time.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  17. Carol L,

I love Scotsmen and go to the local Highland games quite frequently. I think it has something to do with the kilts.

And a writer without books is like a cheesecake without cheese. LOL!

    Thanks for stopping by!

  18. I'm going after your favorite movie. Alien is a great movie, but not a whole lotta romance going on...yep, I'm sticking with it. ( ;

    ReplyDelete
  19. Jocelyn,

You're right about the lack of romance. That came in Aliens with the Hicks character. I so wanted them to just go at it...sigh...but it was considered an action horror movie and heaven forbid it have romance in it.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  20. Beth,

I am so sorry I missed you and your comment. Please forgive me. I think everyone deserves an answer if they took to time to enter. Don't you?

I can see your point about #2...I mean after all...how many books can a writer read or use when writing? Believe me, it's more than you think. LOL!

About #3. While it is many people's last choice for an Alien movie, it is the one which started the franchise. Notice it's still going. Who know what would happen due to a lack of a scream? LOL!

    Thanks for stopping by!

  21. Hi Lynn :)
I'm going to take a wild guess and say # 4 is the lie (Maybe Grandma to 2 girls?)

    Mindy :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. The lie is 4 (I hope). You only have one son and he just graduated from high school.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Mindy,

I'm not saying this is a lie or the truth, but I will let you know that boys run in my family.

Every time me or my sisters-in-law were pregnant, we hoped for a girl. There was only one born in this generation of kids. And I was sad. LOL!

    Thanks for stopping by!
