A Tribute to Mel ~ @MelSchroeder #ALittleHarmlessSex #amreading

Hello everyone!

Today we’re celebrating a wonderful friend of mine’s publishing anniversary. In the early days, we were critique partners and I’ll never forget that experience. I was lucky enough to read A Little Harmless Sex before anyone else and even then I knew it was awesome.

But enough about me, this is about Mel…for those of you who don’t know anything about her…here’s the scoop.

From an early age, Melissa loved to read. First, it was the books her mother read to her including her two favorites, Winnie the Pooh and the Beatrix Potter books. She cut her preteen teeth on Trixie Belden and read and reviewed To Kill a Mockingbird in middle school. It wasn’t until she was in college that she tried to write her first stories, which were full of angst and pain, and really not that fun to read or write. After trying several different genres, she found romance in a Linda Howard book.

Since the publication of her first book in 2004, Melissa has had close to fifty romances published. She writes in genres from historical suspense to modern day erotic romance to futuristics and paranormals. Included in those releases is the bestselling Harmless series. In 2011, Melissa branched out into self-publishing with A Little Harmless Submission and the popular military spinoff, Infatuation: A Little Harmless Military Romance. Along the way she has garnered an epic nomination, a multitude of reviewer’s recommended reads, over five Capa nods from TRS, three nominations for AAD Bookies and regularly tops the best seller lists on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Since she spent her childhood as a military brat, Melissa swore never to marry military. But, as we all know, Fate has her way with mortals. She is married to an AF major and is raising her own brats, both human and canine. She spends her days giving in to her addiction to Twitter , counting down the days until her hubby retires, and cursing the military for always sticking them in a location that is filled with bugs big enough to eat her children.

Mel, you are one special lady and I feel blessed meeting you! Thanks for being my friend.

Is it love, or just a little harmless sex?

Max has always been Anna‘s knight in shining armor. But Max has always seen her as a charming, and very sexy, little sister.

Until Max’s cold fiance dumps him, Anna unloads another of her many conquests and she invites him over for margaritas and Mexican food. Too much tequila, too much flirting, and too many years of fighting the attraction — Max loses control and has mind-blowing sex with Anna on her couch. And in her shower. And in her bed. When the sun rises the next morning, both of them must face that their night together is just the first of many.

For Max, he knows he wants Anna forever, but convincing a commitment-phobe like Anna is no easy task. For Anna, she can’t believe she has finally slipped beneath Max’s steely self-control. He is every woman’s dark, wet fantasy come true.

But what happens when Max pushes Anna for more than just A Little Harmless Sex?

And don’t forget to keep hopping here:

For my part in the hop, I’m giving away a $20 Amazon Gift Certificate and a copy of any ebook from my back list. Thanks for stopping by everyone…and don’t forget to drop by one of my favorite author’s site as soon as you can!

My Sexy Saturday ~ Dying Is Sad ~ @oddlynn3 #MSSWeek18 #LynnCrain

Welcome to the 18th week of My Sexy Saturday.

My Sexy Saturday is a weekly blog hop where authors share sexy snippets of their books with 7 words, 7 sentences or 7 paragraphs. Each week we aim to entertain readers via our individual weekly blog posts, through tweeting our sexy tweets along with Facebook notices as you read the words, snippets and excerpts posted. This is for our readers as we value and appreciate each one of you.

This is the final week that we’ll be in book 2 of my Santa’s Elves series, The Thing About Elves. Ardan and Angie’s love story has hit a snag as something terrible has happened. Here’s my sexy, though poignant, 7 sentences for the week. Enjoy!

“I am so sorry for everything, muileach,” he whispered. “Tha mi duilach. I understand that you are probably in a far better place. I just wish now that I had realized what a jewel I had in my grasp. I was so wrong for pushing you away, for not allowing you in. I don’t know the consequence of us just starting Nor’ahkeem. I just know that I will love you forever.”

You can purchase this book here at eXtasy Books.
Don’t forget to visit all the great authors from My Sexy Saturday weekly blog hop listed below. Have a great weekend...see you next week!

My Sexy Saturday ~ The View From Santa's Sleigh ~ Chapter 5 ~ @oddlynn3 #MySexySaturday

Welcome to another My Sexy Saturday. Today’s excerpt will be from Chapter 5 of The View From Santa’s Sleigh. This book is the first in my Santa’s Elves series. I’m plan to have the final book in the series done this summer. Today we have Jedrick and Tessa have gone to the family home so that she can get to know the family. And aren’t those family dinner’s just exciting? After all isn’t there someone on your family tree you’d just love to hid away? At this point in the story, that would be Jedrick’s sister, Aingeal. Yeah...great dinner conversation...LOL! Here’s a litte more of their story. Enjoy!

Standing at the entry, she took off her coat and hat. “Did you guys see the release of sexual energy the other night? Some elf must have really been at it.” Coming into the dining room, she stood looking like a wild woman with black curls tumbling around her face.
Tessa felt like sinking into the floor, because somehow she knew just who the elf was. Peering closer at the person who could have only been Aingeal, she saw gold glitter in her mouth and realized that the girl had a tongue piercing.
Suddenly, nine pairs of eyes were all turned in Aingeal’s direction. “What? Did I say something wrong?”
“Can’t you come in just once without making a scene?” Jedrick questioned angrily.
“Jedrick,” his father’s hand gripped his arm. “Aingeal, this is Jedrick’s friend, Tessa.”
Aingeal looked across the table at her. “Hi, Tessa. Did you feel that…oh…I am so sorry,” she said seeing the look on Tessa’s face. “I didn’t mean….”
“That’s okay.” Tessa leaned forward and peered a little closer. “Is that a tongue piercing?” she questioned innocently.

You can purchase this book here at eXtasy Books.

Please visit the other wonderful authors from My Sexy Saturday as listed below. Each will have something different and exciting to share. We’re here to give you the best in sexy writing, erotic to sensual to tame and everything in between.

Welcome to Day 3 of the Romancing The Blog hop. I’m catching up on everyone’s comments, so don’t forget to come by and see what I say to you personally! Today is also Six Sentence Sunday where I put up six sentences from a current work in progress. It’s right below this post...and for those who post on both...you’ll be entered into a special drawing where you’ll get a $10 gift certificate from Amazon AND a copy of my book The Harvester...how cool is that?!?

The first thing I need to do is to award the $20 gift certificate to Amazon...the winner for September 1st is...throuthehaze! Come on down and claim your prize. I will email you at the address you provided. Congrats!

I want to thank each of you for sharing your favorite authors...they are some of mine as well...but being a writer, you’d think it would be hard for me to read. Well, sometimes it is hard for me to read a book especially if I want to get my red pen out...LOL! No, really, a lot of the times I have to turn off the editor in me because I want to read for the pure enjoyment of reading. It’s what I call my Calgon Moment...remember the ‘Take Me Away’ commercials? Yeah, reading is that moment for me.

All writers started as readers. We wanted to write a better story, something more intense, something in a different world. We wanted the story to take us away to far off places so we could see how the rich or famous live. I learned many things reading books. I’ll never forget the day while I was in college and a group of friends got together for dinner. Afterwards, we decided to play Trivial Pursuit...remember that game? Well, we went head to head, girls against boys and both teams were on the verge of winning. Just one history question stood between us...argh...history! I knew the two girls I had with me were a little lax in that area and as for myself, well let’s just suffice it to say a lot of my learning came for reading books for pleasure.

The conversation went something like this:

“When did the Battle of Hastings occur?”
I look at the girls and shrug my shoulders thinking as I didn’t want to give it away. “Do you think that’s recent history?”
Girl 1 nods. “Absolutely sure it’s World War II. I remember my father talking about it.”
At this point I want to scream but that’s another story. “Really? You think so?”
Girl2 frowns. “Don’t look at me. I didn’t even know there was something called the Battle of Hastings.”
Great. That means the decision is mine. I could win or lose this game based upon my answer. “So you think we should go with World War II?”
Both girls nod and I see the boys across the board leering at me. This was going to be so fun. “Ok.”
Boy 1 grins. “So your answer is World War II?”
I shook my head. “I didn’t say that and since it’s my turn I’ll answer the question.”
Boy 2, who just happens to be my future husband. “Fine. So what’s your answer? I’m sure you don’t know it as you aren’t a history buff.”
I scowled. “Really.” I look back at the girls and give them a wicked smile before turning back to the guys. “The Battle of Hastings happened in 1066 when William the Conqueror  came across the English Channel and whipped King Harold’s butt.” The guys look was priceless. “Don’t ever tell me I don’t learn anything by reading romance.”
Boy 2 is speechless. “What book? I’d like to know what book had that information.”
I smiled. “A book called The Wolf and the Dove starts right after the battle and explains why the knight in it is going off to conquer new land for the king. I’ll go find it if you want.”
Boy 2 frowns. “I believe you. I’ll never say anything again about you reading those books.”
“Good because I want to write them.”

Never again am I questioned about my reading of romances. That event occurred over thirty years ago and I’m still with the guy.

Now today, I read for a different reason because personally if I want to learn something I do research on the internet or pick up an ebook to find out what I need to know. I read every day to escape into someone else’s world that they’ve created. Most days, I’ve been in one of mine all day and it’s nice to see just how another author has taken something thus making their own. I want to relate to their characters like I do my own but I want to do it for the sheer enjoyment of the written word.

I can remember, and I still do this, taking a book with me while I lounge in a bathtub full of hot water, soaking my cares away. I have a book with me everywhere I go today as there are many train rides for me getting to a final destination in Vienna. I have one to read as I wait for the doctor. Sometimes it’s an ebook, sometimes it’s a print book but there is always some sort of book in my hand.

How about you? When do experience your Calgon Moment? Do you have a story about reading romance? Can’t wait to hear your answers!

Romancing the Hop - Day 2

HEA versus HFN

Welcome to Day 2 of the Romancing The Blog hop. I’m just getting to many of your comments today as I’m on the other side of the world. The majority of you love those happy endings, so I’m going to be talking about those here in a moment.

The first thing I need to do is to award the $20 gift certificate to Amazon...the winner for August 31st is...Liese2(sqwalker2@hotmail.com)! Come on down and claim your prize. I will email you at the address you provided. Congrats!

I can see some of you scratching your head...HEA? HFN? Whatever is that woman talking about? Happily-ever-after versus happily-for-now is the topic of the day. Now, in my honest opinion, I don’t buy the happily-for-now and feel cheated. Those are the books where the hero and heroine end up together but you aren’t sure they’re going to stay together.

The main genre I see doing these endings are Urban Fantasy and rightly so. Those books aren’t romance and shouldn’t even be seen as such...but still...there are moments where I feel cheated even though I know the story isn’t a romance.

Romance is all about the happily-ever-after and I want to see those people together. Period. I don’t want to think that they may be going through more of the same negative stuff in another book. It was one of the traits that made me give up on Rosemary Rogers after the first book. I mean, really, how many times can you pull a couple apart, throw them back together and NOT have your readers heads spinning. I never knew what was going to happen next and I didn’t like it one little bit because the book was a romance not a saga.

Some of my favorite romance writers of today are those with me here on this blog hop. People like Carrie Ann Ryan, Melissa Keir, Nina Pierce, Felcity Heaton, Jenna Jaxon, Jennifer Lynn, Lexi Ryan and Ella James to name but a few. I also love Lisa Mondello, Debra Holland and Cynthia Woolf. There are so many great authors to choose from, my head spins daily as I look at my ebooks to decide what’s next from my own to-be-read pile. The great choices are many, so none of us should be hurting for our happily-ever-after.

Who are some of your favorite authors of today? Why do you like them? Do they provide the happily-ever-after you’re looking for? Can’t wait to hear from you!
