An Interview with Debbie Fritter/Debi Wilder

There will be a few times where I interview a dual personality...LOL! Today, I inteview my good friend, Debbie Fritter. Debbie and I have know each other for a few years. A while ago, she asked me to critique the first book of what would become the Blue Moon Magic series. I pouted because I wanted to play with her and the other two authors in the series. I came up with a secret brother and was very lucky they invited me to play. The Blue Moon Magic series from Loose Id still garners a lot of attention to this day.

So help me in welcoming my good friend, Debbie Fritter/Debi Wilder to XtraOrdinary Romance!

At what age did you realize you wanted to be a writer?

I dabbled a bit in high school when I took a creative writing class, at that time I did more poetry and songwriting. It wasn’t until a friend’s sister became published in the 1980s that I figured I could do it too…and I did.

What has been your biggest influence on becoming a writer?

I don’t know if I can pinpoint one particular person or event. I believe a writer was somewhere inside just waiting for the right moment, so maybe is was Cori that influenced me in the ‘80s.

How did you feel when you got your first publishing contract?

The third greatest thing to happen to me … behind giving birth to my son and then marrying the love of my life.

How many novellas/novels have you published to date? When did you have your first sale?

My tenth publication came out this past September by Red Rose Publishing. My first book was published in 2005 by Whiskey Creek Press.

Tell me about your latest release. Please include if it is part of a series or a stand alone book.

HEARTBEAT is the sequel to the adult romance, Eternal Pleasures. It tells Paige’s story about finding her own sexual freedom with Russell. See Paige feels responsible for putting her best friend, CJ, in the hospital. CJ was always giving herself pleasure, and Paige just couldn’t figure out what the big deal was and she kept criticizing her for it. When CJ was ready to come home, Paige promised her that she’d shed her inhibitions…problem is she doesn’t know how. But Dr. Russell Canterbury is more than happy to teach Paige his wicked ways. Russell wants to use Paige by making her thirst for him sexual and take his revenue on CJ for getting his closest friend killed.

What was your inspiration for this book?

It felt like Paige and Russell needed their own story, one that made them complete.

How do you categorize yourself: pantser or plotter?

If by “pantser” you mean by the seat of my pants, that’s me. I tend to let my characters guide me through their world. I may have an idea of where I want to go with a new book, but ultimately it’s the characters that give me direction…I only suggest.

How do you handle the editing/revision process?

As you know, I have a couple of writing buddies (Honey Jans, Sherry Derr-Wille, and yourself) I’ll run things past before submitting to the editor of that particular house. All my editors have free rein to change any doing with grammar—my big downfall—anything else they need to run past me first. I usually give them a quick turnaround, usually within 72 hours.

You’re received some fantastic reviews...how do you feel about them and why?

Thank you. I’ve received some not so glowing ones as well. Reviews are subjective to the reviewer. What one reviewer may not get, the next one will. I think it’s a way of knowing how your readers might look at your story.

Did anything odd happen while you were researching this story?

Not on this particular one, One of my other stories BY THE BLUE MOON, is based on a legend where I live about werewolves living in the area. That “what if” became a four book series, Blue Moon Series, with three other talented authors.

How do you get your ideas for your stories? Do they come all at one or in bits and pieces over a period of time?

From just about anywhere, and usually when I’m in the middle of my current project. I’ve got an idea in my database that came from a story on the front of one of our local papers about the roller derby, too bad I didn’t beat Drew Barrymore to the punch though. A another one came while my husband and I were on vacation in St. Louis and we were looking around Union Station. I get that glazed over look in my eye when it happens, my husband gives me a minute, and then we talk a few minutes about it. I usually get some sort of opening for a new idea. Sometimes characters will come to me first, then the rest follows. There’s no rhyme or reason to it, just happens.

If you could time travel, where would you go?

There are two time periods that are my favorite … medieval and Victorian eras. I’ve always loved the lure of castles and the whole idea of knights, etc. Riding through the countryside on a big black Fressian…SIGH. The Victorian age was pretty carefree and elegant in its own right. But then so was the Deco age (20s/30s).

Who and what are you reading now?

Right now I’m reading THE KEY by Jennifer Sturman. It’s an older Red Dress Ink book about a woman whose boys dies right in front of her during a meeting. The thing is everyone in the meeting wouldn’t have minded seeing him dead at one time or another. I picked it up at the local Dollar General. I’ve found that I’ve been picking up more chick lit mysteries these days.

Share a little bit of the ‘real’ you with our readers. What do you do besides writing? Any hobbies? Dark secrets?

I work full time as a legal secretary for a state agency. I’m married to a wonderful man, have four grown children and two beautiful grand-daughters. Being a horse lover, in the early spring I replaced my aged Arabian mare with a younger Quarter Horse gelding…it is definitely Men are from Mars, Woman are from Venus syndrome here. There’s a sort of peace being with horses that’s hard to explain, and I think every horse owner out there would agree.

What does your significant other think about your writing?

Randy’s probably my biggest fan…and critic. He looks at just about everything I write, letting me know where he doesn’t understand something. Although, sometimes he’s just way too literal for the situation…he’s more into the Grisham, Patterson, etc. type of books and sometimes doesn’t understand that romance is written differently. He’s always ready to take me where I need to go for research, making a vacation out of it. When I was writing A LEGACY THROUGH TIME, he said that if I was going to write about the Civil War, I was going to stand on the battlefields. It was amazing and you can’t believe the feeling you get being out there. The area hasn’t changed much over the years.

Debbie writes under two names, Debbie Fritter and Debi Wilder. Here’s there bios:

Debi Wilder

Although some like to think Ms. Wilder lives what she writes, it’s far from the truth. She has shelves filled with research books such as Sex Toy Tales, Lip Service and The Academy, which she gets from her sister-in-law from time to time. Thankfully her husband doesn’t think they have to try everything at least once!

Ms. Wilder loves the freedom that writing erotica brings. There’s a no holds barred attitude that suits her when her imagination and characters take over and run wild on the pages. And like her characters, Ms. Wilder believes romance and sex go hand in hand.

Ms. Wilder currently lives a quiet life with her husband nestled deep among the pyramids of Rock Lake.

Debbie Fritter

Ms. Fritter’s first book, The Perfect Match, was released in April 2005 by Whiskey Creek Press. It was followed by the award winning A Legacy Through Time, Fallen Angels Reviews 2005 Book of the Year, in August; Emerald, a short story in Tales From the Treasure Trove, 2006 EPPIE Winner for Best Anthology, in September 2005. In June 2005, Whiskey Creek Press Torrid published her award winning sci-fi erotica, S.P.A.R., which was voted 2005 Best Erotic Romance Ebook by www.Ecataromance.com. Her next release, By the Blue Moon, Book 1 of the Blue Moon Magic werewolf paranormal anthology, was released in September 2007 by Loose ID. In February of 2008, Whiskey Creek Press will release Joust in Time, a time-travel romance from 15th Century England to modern times. Ms. Fritter’s books are available in ebook and/or print formats, and can be purchased through her websites: http://www.debbiefritter.net/ / http://www.debiwilder.net/.

Ms. Fritter is a member of the Electronic Publishers Internet Connection, Romance Writers of America, and Wisconsin Romance Writers of America. Ms. Fritter became of member of PAN in August 2009. Ms. Fritter has lived in south-central Wisconsin all but six months of her life. She spent most of her days growing up in Madison where she was born, but never forgot about her childhood years in Lake Mills during the early 1960s. She and her husband, Randy, returned to Lake Mills approximately 4 years ago and plan to stay in the area until they retire to Oklahoma.

If it's one thing Debbie’s learned over the years of her life it's that you can never stop dreaming and reaching for the stars, because sooner or later you just may get to touch one and it'll bring you more happiness than you can ever imagine. She feels lucky, and blessed, that over the past couple of years to have been able to reach out and touch two stars ... and she’s still reaching for more.

  3. Hi everyone! Just got in from my day job, so I'm a bit behind. Yes Jennifer, I'm very lucky to have that my husband, Randy, is supportive. I give him my full attention (unless under dead line) when he's home, and it works pretty well. And thank your Anna for the nice comment. I hope you let me know what you like, and don't like, about my writing. I always love to hear from my readers.

Well, I'm going to get something to eat. Will check back soon.

  4. Random Exerpt:

He couldn‟t help feeling bereft at her departure. Damn, she looks just as good from the back. Long legs, tight ass…just what a traveler needs to keep him warm and satisfied for the night.

“Love,” Russell said, glancing into the open box at the provocative pictures on the packages. “Or lust. Judging by the contents of your shipment I‟d say it was lust, which isn‟t a bad thing by my count.”

“I, ah, just what was it you came in here for, Russell?..."

  9. Evening everyone!

I'm happy your enjoyed reading a bit about me, Tracey. For me, writing is a great escape when I really need to find a place to hide and it's way too nasty to go out to the barn to ride.

Ouch! DH has says "Hi," Debi S. We just got back from dining out...then it's off to bed. hehehehe

Here's another sneak peek of HEARTBEAT:

She closed her eyes, her senses swirling. Her hips arched as her thighs opened, allowing Russell easier access to her nub. Her body burned with desire and need. Need for release from the fire consuming the core of her soul. Release from the inhibitions that haunted her womanly body. Release from the safe little
cage of the taboos her mother instilled upon her. She needed more, she needed to be set free.

“Russell,” she softly cried out, stifling yet another scream trying to surface from somewhere deep within her. Was she going totally mad? She couldn‟t focus, couldn‟t find her way back to the surface. She was lost in a swirl of lust and desire…blissfully lost.

He kissed her lightly, his tongue slowly caressing her lips‟ velvety folds. “Sh-sh-sh, Paige. Isn‟t this what you wanted, to be touched like the others?” Leaning in closer, he traced the edge of her ear with the tip of his tongue. “You‟re made to feel ecstasy, Paige. Pleasure isn‟t something to fear or be ashamed of.”

He made it sound so, so simple.

Have a good night everyone. I'll be back in the morning...the DH gets my attention tonight.

  10. Morning ... Givin the fact that Nebraska had 15" of snow and Denver is getting some of their own, I think winter is on its way to Wisconsin. So this morning instead of going out and riding my QH, Joe, I've been winterizing the windows inside the house...especially my office which gets a bit chilly.

Here's something to keep you all warm...another peek into HEARTBEAT.

Her thoughts exploded as she was slammed violently against the side of a building. She couldn‟t catch her breath with Russell‟s body covering the length of her own. Peering over his shoulder, several men raced passed them in the dark, their long coats flapping behind them like black wings. Their voices were loud and gruff, yet she couldn‟t quite understand the muffled words.

Russell smiled down at her, his groin pressed against her. “See, I told you it wasn‟t safe walking about in the streets.” He pressed harder against her, her heart thumping in fear and sexual awareness.

“So you did,” she said, trying to catch the breath knocked out of her. She smiled up at him through the misty darkness forgetting the men. Sticky wetness lingered over her clit as his cock pressed harder against her thigh. Fire surged through her. Every circuit sprung wide open and tingled with electricity. The hell with being scared, she wanted what this man had to offer.

    Thanks again for stopping by.

  12. Hi Jennifer .. I know what you mean. Had to go out and buy indoor window stuff since all we had on had was outdoor (which DH will put up on Monday if it doesn't rain).

Hehehe. Glad you think it was hot. Here's a bit of ETERNAL PLEASURES, which started it all:

    Excerpt from Eternal Pleasures:

Garrett stood never breaking eye contact. “You‟re hot and ready, love. All you have to do is ask and all this will be yours.” He circled her again, drawing her closer to him. Closer to immortality, if she chose it.

“What makes you think I want anything to do with you?” Cassandra backed away, bumping into a shelf housing an array of vibrators. “I don‟t know who you are or where you come from.”

“That, love, is where you are mistaken.” Garrett plucked one of the magic dildos from the shelf behind her head. “You know me far better than you believe.”

Garrett ran the tip of the plastic shaped penis down her blouse, pausing at the pass between her breasts. He moved the vibrator tip over a nipple, his cock thumping as she sucked in her breath.

The little bell above the door tinkled.

    “Christ, CJ, what the hell?”

Garret dropped the sexual device onto the floor, between Cassandra‟s feet.

“Paige, thank heaven you‟re here.” Cassandra pushed past Garrett, rushing to Paige‟s side. “That man came in here and started to seduce me.” She pointed to Garrett as he took a couple of steps backwards.

    “Man? What man?”

  13. Back from working at the barn ... cleaning/leveling out stalls, etc. ...

How about a peek into BY THE BLUE MOON, Book 1 of the Blue Moon Series written with my good friends Honey Jans, Shari Dare and of course Lynn Crain. Enjoy!

    BY THE BLUE MOON excerpt:

“In your dreams, Mr. Matthews,” Chastity spat, finding herself backed up against the vast span of glass and the papers he’d once held fluttering around her feet.

With Justin standing mere inches from her, all she had to do was reach out and smack that smirk clean off his face. Instead, her pussy quivered in anticipation of what his closeness might promise. She held his hot gaze, his gold-specked eyes reflecting the orange glow of the setting sun.

His hands moved lightly over her breasts then pinched a nipple hard and fast. A hot shiver seared through her and she licked her lips. She held fast as he pressed his bulging hard-on against her thigh, her clit twitching harder with need. Her pussy tightened around the silver object purring against her clit in her panties, her hot juices seeping from her cunt.

Nearing the edge of coming in her silk panties, she closed her eyes slightly. If he would only move a fraction of an inch to my mound, I won’t be able to keep silent…or keep my hands off him. Come on, Justin, just a little bit more. Show me what you’ve got to offer a woman, Matthews.

As if he’d heard her plea, he pressed harder against the inside of her thigh. His fingers brushing against the outside of her breast; she moaned with pleasure. His breath hot against her ear, she heard a whisper of words. “Remember, my dear Chastity, I’m the one in control here. I’m a perfect match for that she-wolf instinct growing inside you.”

She-wolf? He thinks of animals at a time like this? She quivered slightly, his tongue and teeth nipping at her earlobe, followed by a soft growl. The sound sensual and powerful, she moaned with the wave of a liquid hot climax threatening to shudder through her body.

Breathless, Chastity focused to find herself alone with her dress unbuttoned, her panties pooled around her ankles and one breast pulled from her white lace bra, its nipple held in a jeweled clip.

Have a warm and cozy night.

    Debbie

  18. Hope everyone's doing well. I think I'm going to give a look into the "tamer" side of my writing. Here's a peek at A LEGACY THROUGH TIME, a historial time-travel published by Class Act Books:

She bent over to pick up the near empty cardboard container she’d knocked to the floor. It gave Royal a perfect view of the round firmness of her buttocks and the smooth tightness of the jeans across those mounds. What a man wouldn’t do to have a handful of firm butt in his hands. To pull them in close and feel… Knock it off, Kinsman! You’re heading into orbidden territory, remember?

“Long enough to hope you’re Glenda and not the Wicked Witch who’s come to live here.” Royal responded, placing the boxes next to the one Emma and Kate had been working out of.

Emma looked up at him and then to Kate, concern written on her face for the older woman. “You scared the tar out of us,” she scolded.

Leaning against the refrigerator, Royal crossed his arms over his chest. He had to keep away from her and the way she bent down to pick up the box. Just looking at Emma bewitched him. I’d bet the family jewels she’d be wicked while trying to be a good witch, he thought, hoping the flying monkey stirring in his jeans would keep a low altitude.

“Are those little beads of moisture on your upper lip from being scared, or is what Kate asked true?” he questioned.

Thanks again to everyone who has stopped by to check out Lynn's blog. I'll have another two peeks for you in the next couple of days.

  19. And here's a bit of JOUST IN TIME, a time-travel published by Whiskey Creek Press:

“Yes—please do tell us.” Courtney stood next to the table, Thomas flanking her right. Her eyes lit up the room with warmth and compassion. Reynold shifted in his seat to ease the growth between his legs.

Thomas smiled like the Cheshire cat at Issie. “Look who I found lurking in the shadows.”

The two women eyed each other up—contempt in Issie’s eyes and distrust in Courtney’s. Deep beneath the surface of politeness lay a rivalry Reynold was already all too familiar with. These two never liked each other, even as children play-ing in the courtyard.

He couldn’t accept the fact the Lady Courtney wasn’t his Catherine. Something deep down in his heart and soul told him they were one and the same, just born in different worlds and time.

Reynold stood, allowing Lady Courtney to take his seat. He’d already told Thomas his story, what more could he say? That he was in love with a woman much like Lady Courtney? That he’d been banished from his homeland because he wouldn’t bed down with his Queen?

Not with Queen Isabel sitting in front of him—he valued his life too much for such an accusation…even if it were the truth and common knowledge within Heartsease. She wouldn’t hesitate to have him cut down where he stood, if she so desired.

And what of the Lady Courtney? Would she believe his words, or treat him with the kindness she’d shown the mindless of their country? He’d not take the chance; not yet any way.

  20. Evening Everyone,

Just a quick note to say thanks for stopping by this past week, and especially to my good friend Lynn for asking me to be here.

I'll leave you with another hot moment in HEARTBEAT, just to warm you up on a cold fall night. Enjoy!

He stood naked mere inches away from her. His body gleamed in the low flicking light, beckoning her to him. He held out his hand and she took a step, closing the gap between them. His arms drew her against his chest; the heat of his body melting any resistance she may have had left.

He bent, nipping at a nipple peaking out from the top of her bra. She held his head there, arching her back so he‟d have more of what he wanted. Fingers tugged at her thong, exposing the entrance to her hot womanhood. She dripped with moistness…with need…with desire.

His cock thumped against her opening. She spread her legs allowing him entrance to her warmth.

“Yes, Russell,” she moaned louder, licking the dryness from her lips. He nipped harder at her pebbled nipple, then pushed further into her opening.

She opened up for him, spreading her legs as wide as she could to accommodate her need to devour him. Her juices trailed out of her, sheathing his cock in wetness. She pulsed, summoning him to her.

“Mmmmm,” he moaned into her ear. “You‟ll feel pain, my love, but only for a moment and only if I allow it.”

She arched her hips grinding her mound against him. “I‟ll live with it.”

He pushed a little further into her opening. If I don’t stop now it’ll be too late. Not yet Canterbury, but soon. Reaching down, he slid three fingers into her, replacing his cock with them. “Not yet, Paige. It‟s not time for us to become one.”

His fingers moved inside her, stimulating the walls of her pussy. Light pressure circled her clit in rhythm to her movements. Her mind swirled with desire…and fear. Fear of letting go.

A fire began to wash over her and she screamed out his name as she came over and over.
