Sexy in History ~ @oddlynn3 #LynnCrain #MySexySaturday #MySexyAuthors #MSS162

Welcome to Week 162 at My Sexy Saturday and thanks for being here with me. This past week has been a flurry of writing and entertaining my youngest, his girlfriend and their incredibly big, dopey dog. It’s been a fun week as we’ve gone to restaurants, hiked and did things we’d otherwise not be doing. And I’ve decided, I’m not going to make promises any more. See, I did this blog consistently for years and it’s only been recently that it’s been so sporadic. Life has a way of you making different priorities and I know that’s what’s been happening with me. So, I’ll post when I can if that works for you.

This week the theme is Sexy in History and what is more sexy than time travel. Going back to another time has always been a fantasy of mine and I just love writing about it. This story is from the Letterbox Love Stories Anthology and will be on sale for another maybe just another week. So get your copy today! Here’s the setup:

In 2084, time travelling detective, Tandi Reynolds, tipped off by a letter, needs to stop an assassin before he kills a newly elected leader. When she finds him in 1874, Vienna, it’s clear a cold blooded killer is only one of her problems. Time is fleeting, so falling in love with her contact, the charismatic Count Leopold Radetzky von Radetz, is a bad idea, but keeping her feelings in check is not easy when she relies on him for her every need.

I love Tandi and Leo not only because of their history but by the very fact they are trying to save their world. They know that by doing so, it will mean everything stays the same and history as we know it will be saved. What can be more sexy than that? Here’s my seven paragraphs from this wonderful story:

Aloisia had come in just today and relayed a story she’d heard from the butcher’s wife about the floozy living in the Radetzky palace. She let Tandi know she’d set the woman straight. After all, it wasn’t her fault that she’d been born with the barbarians across the sea. Everyone knew the people from the western part of that country were plagued with Indians and buffalo and who knew how many other awful things.
Tandi was not sure they needed to go to this ball then have a soiree themselves the following week. Both men assured her the only way to bring out the enemy was to make some public appearances. In the time she’d been here, she’d visited the dressmaker and the milliner as well as the shoe maker, the jeweler, and the list went on and on. And that didn’t even cover the social events they went to during the last week. They went to concerts, dinners, strolls through various museums and parks.
Leo wanted to make sure she appeared to be a rich young woman, sympathetic with the radicals and lower classes. Twice now during their daily walks through Stadtpark, she had pulled off a ring or bracelet to give to some political party or charity organization.
Though Leo had pretended to be offended, he was watching those around them carefully. Someone knew they were here and had orchestrated them to be together in this time. But they probably didn’t know Tandi would bring an instrument for their escape back to their own time. Or that person just didn’t care because they felt their change to the timeline would be devastating. Still, there was something the three of them were supposed to see or do, and good or bad they needed to finish this and go home.
He also wanted people to think she was available and no matter how much she told him she wasn’t interested in anyone else, he still insisted she be presented in society as looking for a rich young man to fulfill her dreams. Which meant he was also available and that in itself made her privately fume.
Her attention was brought back to the present when she stepped on Desmond’s foot, once again. Her hand went over her mouth. If she’d been paying attention…
“I am so sorry.”

My Sexy Crush ~ @oddlynn3 #LynnCrain #MySexySaturday #MySexyAuthors, #MSS151

Welcome to week 151st week of My Sexy Saturday. This week’s theme is My Sexy Crush.  It’s been years since I’ve had a crush but I can still remember the pull on the heart strings and the flutter in the stomach. So, when trying to find the perfect snippet, I went to my current story because the hero and heroine had mutual crushes on each other when they were young. It was the closest I could get.

Life has been kicking my butt this month with the new house. So much to do, so little time. One positive thing is that I did get wonderful internet here, so I have no more excuses. I will be back on track with the Monday’s Scoop and My So-Called Writing Life Columns this week. And boy do I have a lot to share! Including the fact that I’m still not at my desk but a smaller tablet that doubles for meals. Ugh!

Please visit all the awesome authors of My Sexy Saturday. This is a fun place to test the waters for books and authors as each will share a sexy snippet with you. Every book is special and even though a theme is given each week, authors are not required to follow it exactly as every author has their own definition of sexy.

This week, I’m going back to my latest release, Sealed With A Kiss, found in Letterbox Love Stories. This story was so fun to write and is part of my new series Time Travel Bureau. This novella with be the kick off story and will be sold as a single title early next year. Here’s the set up for this wonderful novella:

In 2084, time travelling detective, Tandi Reynolds, tipped off by a letter, needs to stop an assassin before he kills a newly elected leader. When she finds him in 1874, Vienna, it’s clear a cold blooded killer is only one of her problems. Time is fleeting, so falling in love with her contact, the charismatic  Count Leopold Radetzky von Radetz, is a bad idea, but keeping her feelings in check is not easy when she relies on him for her every need.

Here’s my seven paragraphs from this great story:

She slowly sat up and drew her legs under her. “I supposed it would be too much to ask if you have an aspirin hiding somewhere…would it?”
“They should have packed you one in that silly little suitcase they sent with you.”
His accent was smooth, too smooth. She leaned in closer. “Do I know you?”
“I don’t know…should you?” He gave his head a toss and a shake, as if posing or possibly flinging water off himself.
She squinted at his profile, taken back to a time when she was young and her father traveled with the armed services of the US. Since they had family in Austria, he took a position for a few years in Germany. There she met all sorts of people and a kid named Leo who spoke English as well as she did. They were inseparable that first summer slowly growing apart as her time to leave got close.
She had been only twelve at the time and tried to keep up with him through letters as well as cards during the holidays. But somewhere in high school, they totally drifted apart and the exchanges stopped.
“You,” she whispered, reaching out to grab him by his lapels and drag him closer. Yup. Same eyes, same boyish grin with a touch of devil-may-care. “So that’s why I got the letter.”

My Sexy Boss ~ @oddlynn3 #LynnCrain #MySexySaturday #MySexyAuthors, #MSS148

Welcome to week 148th week of My Sexy Saturday. This week’s theme is My Sexy Boss. I don’t have many boss books and only one comes to mind. But I do love sexy bosses and have laughed, cried, chuckled and sighed about many of them.

New month, new commitment and I have already scheduled the Monday’s Scoop and the My So-Called Writing Life columns. And while I will schedule the rest of this months, please know that they will be written before things even happen, so I might have to make corrections later. This last week has been horrid with the house deal in New Mexico through no fault of anyone except new home lending regulations. So I’m still at the dining room table and becoming slightly more comfortable here. Anyway…on to the reason we’re here!

Don’t forget to visit all the awesome authors of My Sexy Saturday. This is a fun place to test the waters for books and authors as each will share a sexy snippet with you. Every book is special and even though a theme is given each week, authors are not required to follow it exactly as every author has their own definition of sexy.

This week, we’re going back to a series that I love. Now, I know that you all have seen this one many times but let’s face it…elves are sexy. This story, The Thing About Elves, is part of my wonderful Santa’s Elves series. Here’s the set up for this wonderful novella:

It’s been two years since Angie’s friend, Tessa, got married to Jedrick and introduced her to his brother, Ardan. From the moment, she saw him she knew he was the man for her. There’s only one problem…he’s elf…an elf who swears human and elves don’t mix. But Angie has other plans in mind. When Ardan asks her to his house after the delivery of Tessa’s and Jedrick’s twins, she jumps at the chance. Even though he keeps telling her nothing will happen, they have been doing this dance for a very long time. And when she teases him by caressing his body, Ardan knows he’s lost. But love and commitment are more than just hot sex. Ardan still doesn’t trust human women and Angie is determined to prove that she is the woman…the only woman…for him. She loves medicine, the North Pole and him more than anything else in the world. When Ardan is summoned to help a hurt elf, he is unavailable and Angie goes in his stead to prove to him that she loves the community of elves as much as he does. But something goes terribly wrong and Ardan is left to care for a comatose and possibly dying Angie. Ardan realizing just how precious this woman is, vows to prove to her his love is fathomless. No matter what the future holds.

Here’s my seven paragraphs from this great story:

“I hear a ‘but’ in there somewhere. Just what’s the problem, Ardan? Am I finally getting on your nerves?” she winked at him.
Stepping back he looked down at her. Was he that transparent? He drew himself up to tower over her. “Your incessant chatter does put me on edge sometimes.”
He could almost feel the deep chuckle in her throat. It was almost as if a cat were purring.
“Are you sure it’s that? Maybe it’s my quick wit or sexy body that’s thrown you off?” she leaned into him. “Surely, you can’t resist me forever.”
Ardan snorted. Resist, indeed. “Madam, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Sure you do. You just don’t want to admit it, big boy. You want me,” she closed her eyes as if breathing in his scent just like he had done moments before. “And I want you.”
Slowly, she slid a finger up his leg and under his lab coat. If that hand or finger went an inch high, she would know that he lied. Still, he tried to will his body to obey his commands. Human women were off limits. Angie’s hand continued its journey up his leg and he knew he was lost. How was he going to explain this?

My Sexy Celebration ~ @oddlynn3 #LynnCrain #MySexySaturday #MySexyAuthors #MSS147

Welcome to week 147th week of My Sexy Saturday. This week’s theme is My Sexy Celebration. This is an awesome theme this week as I celebrate something quite special. I know, I know, this is supposed to be about my characters celebrating something but I know they understand.

The best laid plans have come and gone as I’m still trying to get back to the Monday’s Scoop and the My So-Called Writing Life columns. These last two weeks have been a whirlwind as we come down to the final stretch of purchasing a home in New Mexico. And I can’t wait to have my office set up…then…there’s the matter of the heat as it’s been hotter than Hades here in Nevada. At any rate, at least I’m getting closer to what I want and need to produce even more books.

Don’t forget to visit all the awesome authors of My Sexy Saturday. Each author is showcases their book in a fun way by sharing a sexy snippet with you. Each one is special and even though a theme is given each week, authors are not required to follow it exactly as every author has their definition of sexy. And then there’s the fact that not every author writes about spaceships.

Now back to my celebration…last time I was here…I talked about my new story. I didn’t know when the story was going to be up for preorder or sale and though, I knew it would happen, I was on pins and needles. I am proud to say that Sealed With A Kiss, my story that is part of the Letterbox Love Stories anthology, is finally up for preorder at Amazon and other major retailers. Like I said last time, this story introduces the couple that will be the center of the Time Travel Bureau series.

Suddenly, the door swept open and a very tall, dark-haired man came in. “Aloisia, quit trying to take care of me so much. Tandi and I are already friends. We know everything about one another…don’t we, my dear?”
Tandi just stared at him for a moment, not knowing what to say. There was something…if she could just get her mind to work. “I’m not sure if we know everything, as a lady does hope to keep one or two secrets to herself,” she quipped back in a voice sounding much better than she felt.
The look on Aloisia’s face when Count Radetzky plopped down on her bed was priceless. “Why don’t you go down and get Madam Reynolds some breakfast?”
“My Lord…have you gone mad? You are already the talk of the town!” She flounced out and slammed the door.
If the sound didn’t hurt her head so much, Tandi would have been laughing hysterically. All of Gabriel Getz’s instructions went out the window with that one act. “I don’t think you really needed to do that…do you?”
She slowly sat up and drew her legs under her. “I supposed it would be too much to ask if you have an aspirin hiding somewhere…would it?”
“They should have packed you one in that silly little suitcase they sent with you.”

The Letterbox Love Stories will be on sale until July 11 for only $0.99. You can currently preorder it now for a July 4th release. What a fantastic way to celebrate life and love!

Sexy in Time ~ @oddlynn3 #LynnCrain #MySexySaturday #MySexyAuthors #MSS145

Welcome to week 145th week of My Sexy Saturday. This week’s theme is Sexy in Time. This theme couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time. I am actually going to have a new release that is a time travel. It will be coming out this month and I couldn’t be more excited. This is the first new piece for me in a few years. I am so hoping it will be followed by many more this year but only time will tell.

While I had planned to get back to the Monday’s Scoop and the My So-Called Writing Life columns last week, not much happened. Moving, getting a new place and just life has taken precedent more times than not. Plus with the story I was just talking about, I had a deadline. The first in many years to be honest as I’ve been working on deadlines of my own making. Still, there will be much more detail and yes, I plan to get back to these columns this week. Again, there is just too much to share here and I want this to be about my new story.

Don’t forget to visit all the awesome authors of My Sexy Saturday. Each author is showcasing their book in a fun way by sharing a sexy snippet with you. Each one is special and even though a theme is given each week, authors are not required to follow it exactly as every author has their definition of sexy. And then there’s the fact that not every author writes about spaceships.

Like I said, this week I’m going talk about a brand new story. It’s in an anthology called Letterbox Love Stories and my individual story is entitled Sealed With A Kiss. The couple that I’ve introduced in it will go on to have many more stories, so this is only the beginning. Next year, this story will be released as the first story in a new series called the Time Travel Bureau series and will be the first of Tandi and Leo’s many adventures.

Then nothing except a popping sound followed by pain as she was dropped on her side, the suitcase crashing next to her and the reticule clutched in her hand. Slowly, Tandi sat up and rubbed the back of her head. That was so not what she was expecting. The intense white light emitted from her mode of transportation had made her eyes burn and now she felt as if she’d been on an all-night bender with the nastiness clinging to the inside of her mouth. She swallowed hard trying to dissipate the feeling she’d felt in those final moments of being elsewhere, and prayed she was close to her target destination: Count Radetsky’s palace.
She couldn’t believe she was here, nor when here was. True time travel had always been theoretically possible, but…she stretched her neck, trying not to think about it…she had a job to do, then hopefully return to her well-ordered life.
Hell, who was she kidding? Once she got back, her life would be anything but well-ordered as she’d be unique, being someone who had successfully time-travelled. Unfortunately, that would all be kept within the confines of the Time Travel Bureau as the world could never know how they were kept safe from the Desmond Draeggers of the world. They’d even made her sign a non-disclosure document before MI6 would let her step inside their damn time travel device.
Let’s face it, the only reason she was sent back here was that the letter had come to her and it was a direct threat on the man who would lead the European Union. She tried to get her bearings as she looked around her. It took a moment before she could see the lush grounds attached to a Viennese Palace. The gentle noise from the water calmed her nerves as she moved, a little unsteadily, toward it.
She soon found herself at the edge of a magnificent fountain, complete with cherubs and horses and…what were those things? She leaned over, cupped her hands and pulled the cool water over her face. It did little to dissipate the nausea she felt welling up. She now realized she should not have eaten the huge pastrami sandwich the night before she left and heaved the contents of her stomach into the fountain.
The sharp intake of breath behind her, made her turn and sink to the ground with a slight moan. The handsome man with dark hair and blue eyes was talking to her but Tandi couldn’t understand a word he said even though she knew it was German. Any other time and she’d be drooling over how attractive the man was. Through her sickness haze, she reached up and pushed the small button behind her ear. To most, it looked like a mole but to her it would be a lifesaver as it prompted her understanding of a language she wasn’t proficient in. And the tone of the man couldn’t be more clear.
“Tell me you didn’t just puke in my fountain?” He gave a disgusted click of his tongue and frowned at her before moving to her side. His hand went to her head. “You’re clammy. Guess time travel is rough going, huh?” He questioned, switching to English. Hauling her to her feet, he then swept her up in his arms when her knees buckled. “I guess you’re the great Tandi Reynolds, the woman sent to save the world.”

My Sexy Day ~ @oddlynn3 #LynnCrain #MySexySaturday #MySexyAuthors #MSS136

Welcome to week 136th week of My Sexy Saturday. This week’s theme is My Sexy Day. According to the post, this is the meme’s nod to Chick Lit…sorta…and that’s a quote. From there it went on cover that genre and more. Which made me happy as I really don’t have any but I do have flippant heroines all over the place.

I have a work in progress that I’m going to talk a little about, some to get your feedback and some to start ferreting out the best story possible. I hope you like it because it’s due very soon and since I’m going to be at RT all next week, I’m hoping I’ll have plenty of time to work it all out.

I honestly can’t remember if I tracked down my winner of my $25 Amazon gift certificate and I plan to track her down this weekend. I’ll make sure I do and the GC prize is in effect once again. I will be starting my Monday’s Austria Scoop, even though I don’t live there anymore I still have a lot of stories to share. I will also be starting My So-Called Writing Life again this week. Remember  to comment often on all of this month’s columns because I will be giving the $25 Amazon AC on the last day of the month. More on that in other columns.

Like I said, this week’s story is a new one. And it’s a time travel. And though it doesn’t really fit the theme, it’s better than most. I hope you enjoy it. Here’s the setup for Sealed With A Kiss:

Year: 2084
Time travel has become a very real possibility but not quite accomplished. However, when Detective Tandi Reynolds gets an old letter delivered to her at her precinct in Nevada, she doesn't know what to think of the cryptic note.

Dear Tandi,
There is a traitor in your midst and he's planning to assassinate the heir to the Austrian line. Please take care when ferreting him out of his hidey hole. It might be best if you come to my timeline to rid yourself of the vermin.

And while you may think me rather forward, I've sealed this letter with a kiss so you can verify my identity when we meet.

Yours,
Leopold Radetzky von Radetz

This can be devastating for the European Union as the Austrian heir is currently in line to be president of the Union as well as being one of the world’s leading business men.

But Tandi is a quick study and realizes that Leopold is correct. It's better to stop a problem before it starts. Getting to 1870s Vienna is the least of her worries as she is plunged into a world of royal intrigue, international politics and romantic liaisons.

Can she skillfully negotiate Europe of the past and keep her heart intact?

Please remember, this is a work-in-progress and basically from the first draft of this story. You are the first to see anything from this work. You’ll be seeing a lot of it in the coming weeks, if it fits the bill. Here’s my seven paragraphs from this amazing new story:

Tandi rubbed the back of her head. That was so not what she was expecting. The intense white light emitted from her mode of transportation had made her eyes hurt and now she felt she’d been on an all-night bender with the nastiness clinging to the inside of her mouth. She swallowed hard trying to dissipate the feeling and prayed she was close to her target destination: Lord Radetsky’s palace.
She couldn’t believe she was here nor when here was. True time travel had always been theoretically possible, but…she stretched her neck, trying not to think about it…she had a job to do then hopefully return to her well-ordered life.
Hell, who was she kidding? Once she got back, her life would be anything but well-ordered as she’d be the first person who had successfully travelled through time. Unfortunately, that would all be kept within the confines of the newly formed New World Order Time Travel Division. NOW was the group who was in charge of most of the world’s police forces and while not an optimum solution, or name for that matter, it was working in 2084.
Let’s face it, the only reason she was sent back her was that the letter had come to her and it was a direct threat on the man who would lead the European Union. She tried to get her bearings as she looked around her. It took a moment before she could see the lush grounds attached to a Viennese Palace. The gentle noise from the fountains calmed her nerves as she moved, a little unsteadily, toward it.
She soon found herself at the edge of a magnificent pool with flowing water, complete with cherubs and horses and…what were those things? She leaned over, cupped her hands and pulled the cool water over her face. It did little to dissipate the nausea she felt welling up. She now realized she should not have eaten that pastrami sandwich before she left and she heaved the contents of her stomach into the fountain.
The sharp intake of breath behind her, made her turn and sink to the ground with a slight moan. The handsome man with dark hair and blue eyes was talking to her but Tandi couldn’t understand a word he said. Any other time and she’d be drooling over how attractive the man was. Through her sickness haze, she reached up and pushed the small button behind her ear. To most, it would look like a mole but to her it would be a lifesaver. And the tone of the man couldn’t be more clear.
“Tell me you didn’t just puke in my fountain?” He gave a disgusted click of his tongue and frowned at her before moving to her side. His hand went to her head. “You’re clammy. Guess time travel is rough going, huh?” Hauling her up to her feet and then sweeping her up in his arms when her knees buckled. “I guess you’re the great Tandi Reynolds, the woman sent to save the world.”

I really love writing this story and the scheduled release date for this anthology is June 21, which happens to be my birthday. I’m so excited to have a new story in the works. What’s even more exciting is that I’ll have a lot of new things coming this summer. I can’t wait to share them all with you.
